ResumePulse AI — Privacy Policy
Last updated September 8, 2026
ResumePulse AI is an applicant tracking system (ATS) resume optimizer. This policy explains exactly what we collect when you upload a resume or paste a job description, how that content is processed for scoring and AI tailoring, how long it is kept, and how you can remove it. We only handle the data required to score, rewrite, and export your application documents.
1. Information We Collect
Resume documents and extracted content
When you upload a PDF, DOCX, TXT or Markdown resume, we process the file and the text extracted from it. That text typically contains personal details you chose to include: your name, email address, phone number, location, links, work history, education, certifications and skills.
Job descriptions and target roles
Job titles, company names, and the job description text (typed, pasted, or fetched from a public job posting URL) that you provide so we can compare requirements against your resume.
Account and billing information
- Account email address and display name.
- Subscription tier, remaining scan credits, and usage history.
- Payment records held by our payment processor — we never store full card numbers.
Product usage data
Basic diagnostic and usage events (pages opened, scans run, exports generated) used to keep the product reliable. We do not sell this data.
2. How We Process & Use Your Data
- ATS scoring: keyword, metric, structure and formatting heuristics are run against your resume text to produce a match score and diagnostics.
- Keyword extraction: hard skills, tools and requirements are extracted from the job description and matched against your resume.
- Generative AI tailoring: summaries, bullet rewrites and cover letters are generated from your resume and the selected target role.
- Document generation: PDF, DOCX and plain-text exports are assembled from your edited content.
Model training
Your resumes, cover letters and job descriptions are never used to train public or third-party generative AI models without your explicit, separately given opt-in consent. Consent can be withdrawn at any time in Settings, and withdrawing it does not limit your use of the product.
No advertising use
We do not sell, rent or share your resume content with advertisers, recruiters or data brokers.
3. Document Retention & Privacy Guarantees
Client-side parsing
Wherever the browser can do the work, file parsing happens locally on your device. PDF, DOCX and TXT files are read and converted to text in your browser, and only the resulting text is used for analysis.
Resume Vault retention
Resumes you save are kept in your Resume Vault, along with the optimization results tied to them, until you delete them. Deleted items are removed from active storage immediately and purged from backups within 30 days.
How to purge your data
- Delete a single resume: open Resume Vault, use the item menu, and choose Delete.
- Delete an optimization: open Results & Diff, select the run, and remove it.
- Purge everything: open Settings and use Clear all local data / Delete account to erase resumes, job targets, cover letters and history.
4. Third-Party Services
Cloud AI inference
When AI tailoring is enabled, the relevant excerpt of your resume and the job description are sent to a cloud AI inference provider to generate the requested text. Providers act as processors under contract, are not permitted to retain your content for training, and receive only what is needed for that single request.
Secure storage
Saved documents and account records are stored with an infrastructure provider using encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest.
Payment processing
Subscriptions and credit purchases are handled by a PCI-compliant payment processor. We receive only the transaction status, plan and last four digits of the card.
5. Your Legal Rights
Depending on where you live, you may hold the following rights under the GDPR, the UK GDPR, the CCPA/CPRA and comparable laws:
- Access: request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Portability / export: receive your resumes, job targets and results in a machine-readable format.
- Rectification: correct inaccurate account or profile data.
- Erasure: request complete deletion of your account and all uploaded documents.
- Restriction and objection: ask us to pause certain processing, including AI generation.
- Opt out of sale or sharing: we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA/CPRA.
- Non-discrimination: exercising any of these rights never degrades your service.
Making a request
Email privacy@resumepulse.ai from your account address. We verify and respond within 30 days (45 days where the law allows an extension). You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

ResumePulse AI is not intended for anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
